Modern Foreign Languages
Spanish has been chosen as our Modern Foreign Language.
All children in KS2 study Spanish up to 30 minutes a week. We follow the ‘Language Angels’ programme, which is in line with the National Curriculum for Modern Foreign Languages.
A variety of techniques to encourage the children to have an active engagement with Spanish, and to develop a positive approach to languages. Children build on their language skills through song, rhyme, paired conversation and games. There is an emphasis on pronunciation, vocabulary building and using simple grammatical constructions to make statements and ask questions. Children in EYFS and KS1 will also experience hearing and speaking Spanish throughout the week.
In Key Stage 2, children begin to communicate ideas in writing as well as speech. Children revisit topics to ensure basic vocabulary building and recall for topics such as number, colour and days of the week.
